- The project could generate up to 35 MW of clean energy – enough to power the equivalent electricity needs of approximately 13,800 average Welsh homes.*
- Larnog’s planned site is near Lavernock, between Sully and Penarth
- The project contributes to Trydan’s growing portfolio, whose announced projects will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of a quarter of Welsh homes
Trydan takes its next steps towards an enhanced value chain for the people of Wales, with the launch of the Larnog Solar Farm, in Lavernock in the Vale of Glamorgan. The project could generate up to 35MW of clean energy – equivalent to the electricity needs of 13,800 average Welsh homes – significantly contributing to the potential 400MW of clean electricity that its current onshore wind proposals seek to generate.
Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru operates solely in the interests of Wales, with all generated profits reinvested by Welsh Government into Wales’ priorities and public services. Importantly, the project also diversifies Trydan’s portfolio, increasing the security and resilience of what shall be Wales’s publicly owned energy infrastructure, during different weather conditions and levels of demand.
Alongside the generation of clean, green, solar energy, Trydan has ambitions to enhance nature on site, by improving and creating habitats for bees, insects, birds and mammals, improving access around the site for walkers and protecting the enjoyment of the Wales Coastal Path.
Mark Roberts, Project Manager at Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, said:
“We’re looking forward to speaking to local residents and building strong relationships within the community. Our commitment is to listen carefully, answer questions, and feed what we learn back into the next stage of the design process.
“We’re exploring innovative ways to enhance our sites, so they work harmoniously for both local people and the surrounding habitats.”
